Written In Our Eyes — Ballads & Sketches, Vol. I. A collection of songs
Phil Cooper has loved for years.
It includes traditional big ballads
(“Young Hunting”, “Clerk Saunders,” and “Bonnie Earl of Livingston”) set to
Phil’s original tunes. Plus Phil’s treatments on the ballads “Cruel Mother” and
“Fare Thee Well My Dearest Dear.” And for those who enjoy the full group sound, not to worry!
There are featured songs by Margaret and Kate, plus a special appearance by
Andrew Calhoun,
along with Phil’s own singing. Phil’s version of “Sally Free and Easy” is probably the only
version to get the approval of both Rosemary Tawney and Michael Chapman.
A tasty selection of great old ballads from Cooper, best known for his collaborations with Margaret Nelson, accompanied by flawless guitar and cittern arrangements. It's all good: standouts include "Sally Free and Easy" and "St. Kilda's Wedding." –Mary Des Rosiers—Sing Out! Vol. 50 # 3 Fall 2006.

What Fond Delight. This one started out as a basement tape of lullabies for
Margaret’s nephew Patrick. It expanded to include some grown-up love songs as well.
A good gift for new parents, the tape has also seen use as an after-work tension reducer,
an anodyne for minor and major grief, and a flu cure (!)
pp7107$10.00; ppcd7107 $15.00.

Mr. Versatility's Daughter.
Kate’s debut solo CD is eclectic - a crazy-quilt pieced together from favorite songs in the treasure-house in her head - with the participation of some wonderful accompanists, including guitarists Dave Clarke, Phil Cooper, and Bob and Micky Holdsworth. From the tender Broadway ballad “My Funny Valentine” to the country-tinged “Last Train” to the belted street song “Molly Malone,” to the stark a capella Child Ballad “Bonnie George Campbell” to the bellydancer's delight version of “Love Potion #9,” Kate hopes that you will enjoy this taste of her personal aural history.
